20 September (to be confirmed) | Carcastillo
Over the centuries, shepherds have crossed Navarre as they herded their flocks from the Pyrenean valleys to the Bardenas badlands. Carcastillo, the gateway to the Bardenas, celebrate the transhumance during this festival. It is a perfect example of rural tourism; a festival that connects with the territory, showcases the age-old practice of seasonal droving, and also offers a programme featuring tasting lamb dishes, traditional dancing and music, and much more.
This event is subsidised by the Government of Navarre-Nafarroako Gobernua and is part of the Network of Tourist Activities of the Central Navarre Consortium. The event, organised with the town council, is committed to sustainability and exclusivity and is part of the Turismo Bikaina-Turismo de 10 provincial sustainable tourism programme.
