Berbinzana was first settled and grew as a mainly farming area, protected by the River Arga which provides fertile soils and a great biological diversity in its riverbank copses. Not surprisingly, it has become one of the towns driving organic farming.

Its past dates back to the Iron Age, as can be seen at the archaeological site and museum of the Eretas, a fortified villa from the 6th century B.C. Its Latin name (Vervinius or Vervetinus) and a milestone found there reveal its subsequent occupation in Roman times. However, it would be in the Middle Ages when Berbinzana grew after it was donated to the Monastery of Santa María de Nájera.

The Church of Our Lady of La Asunción is the centre of the town. It houses the seated image of the Virgin with the Christ Child. Berbinzana prides itself on its deep-rooted culture and is faithful to its traditions.
